The Drowned World (also known as the Plane of Water) is a water-filled dimension inhabited by Drowned Pokémon. The Drowned World is accessed by accepting the "The Water Plane" Quest. The Drowned World can also be accessed by using the Drowned World Teleporter, which can be found in the Creative Mode inventory. The Drowned World contains three different biomes: Drowned Warm, Drowned Crimson, and Drowned Dark. These biomes only differ in the color of the water and the appearance of the particle effects. The Pokémon populating this dimension all have Drowned palettes. They can be battled and defeated, but the player cannot capture them until they have completed the "The Drowned" Quest. If that quest has not been completed, the Pokémon found in the Drowned World will break out of any Poké Balls thrown at them, including Master Balls. The player is teleported out of the Drowned World if the player's y-level becomes 10 or less, the player's y-level becomes 246 or greater, or the player dies by drowning. It is encouraged to have a means of preventing the breath meter from depleting so that the player's journey through the Drowned World isn't cut short.

Beyond the skies of the Plane of Air, the roots of the newly regrown Plane of Wood are nurtured by the vast, spherical, liquid shell of the Plane of Water. Its nearly limitless stretches of saline, fresh, and brackish seas teem with all manner of oceanic life, lit by submerged suns and bioluminescence before descending into the black, benthic depths where the plane borders the Plane of Earth. While it’s perfectly amenable to water-breathing creatures, air-breathing travelers must provide their own supply of air or magical means to breathe while on the plane. Bubbles of breathable atmosphere are relatively rare and securely guarded, anchored over places of trade and commerce with outsiders, such as the great city of Vialesk, founded by immigrant undines. The plane’s oceans, dotted by vast forests of kelp, magical currents, and strange phenomena, play host to empires of merfolk, predatory and expansionist sea devils, and the holdings of the plane’s great brine dragons.

The Elemental Plane of Water was an Inner Plane[9] or Elemental Plane[15] of the Great Wheel cosmology and the World Tree cosmology models. After the Spellplague, the Elemental Plane of Water collapsed into the Elemental Chaos, mixing with all the other Inner Planes.[16] Water is one of the four elements and two energies that make up the known universe and therefore of great interest to cosmologists.[17] This plane was abundant with life: native creatures born of the elemental nature of the plan
